Helsinki and Kimitoö (Finland) based visual artist Anu Miettinen (b. 1975) graduated from Vapaa Taidekoulu / Free Art School in 1998 and as a visual artist BA from Lahti Art Institute in 2013. As a multidisciplinary artist, her main focus is on still and moving images, environmental art, installation, and drawing. Her artworks have exhibited since 1997 at galleries, museums, and public spaces in Finland and abroad. Since 2006 Miettinen has actively participating in environmental art exhibitions in Finland and Baltic countries. Turn of the year 2019/2020 Miettinen participated in the international art biennale Fresh Winds #6 in Iceland. In 2019, she started creating a multiyear conceptual and touchable environmental artwork in Icelandic Finnmörk, part of the Heidmörk nature reserve.
Over the past 15 years, she has been active in environmental art events and projects in Helsinki as an artist, producer, and coordinator. Anu Miettinen worked from 2015-2018 as a specialist and coordinator of environmental art and one percent regime of arts in the construction projects for the Art Promotion Centre Finland in the Uusimaa region. And as art coordinator for the City of Lahti 2020-2022. Currently, she is doing a master's thesis about arts and politics in the public space for the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki. In addition, she studied in a Specialisation programme in public art at the University of Arts of Helsinki. Miettinen has worked in many positions of responsibility in the art field.
